PANJIM: PVC Parra Association defeated Merces club, 8-7 via sudden death tie-breaker to move into the quarter-finals of the Quadros Suzuki trophy organized by Goa Velha SC and played at Goa Velha grounds, on Saturday.
Jayendra Kunkolienkar drew first blood for Merces in the fifth minute as he cleverly cut passed Parra goalkeeper Harischandra and slotted into an empty goal after receiving the pass from Krishna.
Joaquim had a chance to equalize for Parra but his shot from close went screaming passed the Merces horizontal. Both the teams crossed over with Merces leading 1-0.
After resumption Parra restored parity after Parra were awarded a penalty as Carlton pulled Joaquim down in the penalty box.
Lawrence coolly placed the penalty passed a diving Floyd in the Merces goal.
In the tie-breaker, Lawrence, Vasant, Rohit, Rohan, Brian, Clinton and Allywyn scored for Parra while Luciano, Madhu, Jayandra, Prasanna, Carlton and Krishna scored for Merces.
