MARGAO: Parteek Mahajan, Floyd Araujo, Tejan Fallary and Chirag Ramdas won their respective matches to move into the men’s singles semi-finals at the Late Rasik Painginkar All-Goa Major Ranking Badminton tournament, organized by Rasik Memorial Trust in association with Goa Badminton Association and SAG, at Multipurpose hall, Fatorda, here, on Saturday. The finals will be played on Sunday, at 4.30 p.m.
In the quarter-finals, Parteek Mahajan got the better of Yash Kunkoliekar 21-9, 21-11 while Floyd Araujo registered a comfortable 21-8, 21-18 victory over Parag Chauhan.
Then, Tejan Fallary thumped Sunny Sawant in two straight games 21-12, 21-9 while Chirag Ramdas had to sweat it out before winning 19-21, 21-11, 21-14 against Sunny Sawant.
In the men’s doubles quarter-finals, Kamlesh Kanji and Kunal Savordekar defeated Navneet Nasnodkar and Sanath Kamat 21-11, 21-16 while Sunny Sawant and Pankaj Naik beat Sandeep Kanji and Kapil Kanji 21-17, 17-21, 21-16.
Parteek Mahajan and Parag Chauhan combined well to get the better of Tejan Fallary and Dhruv Angle 21-16, 8-21, 21-19 while Floyd Araujo and Darwin Barretto grounded the pairing of Krushnan Naik and Sanjay Pai 21-15, 21-12.
In the under-13 boys singles quarter-finals, Soham Khandeparkar bt Parth Kantak 21-13, 21-12; Ayaan Sheikh bt Ashutosh Dhavlikar 15-21, 21-15, 21-9; Tejas Tendulkar bt Kaushal Dessai 21-10, 21-6 and Arjun Fallary bt Rudra Dukle 21-18, 21-15.
In the under-15 girls singles quarter-finals, Manjushri Raut bt Simran Pathak 21-5, 21-9; Yasmin Sayed bt Aditi Redkar 21-9, 21-10; Lydia Barretto bt Arshia Gautam 21-9, 21-6 and Anosia Chirali bt Riya Gaonkar 21-16, 22-20.
In the under-15 boys singles quarter-finals, Mehul Jirage bt Parth Kantak 21-5, 21-7; Sushil Nayak bt Cifert Jacques 21-13, 21-13; Curt Coutinho bt Yash Halarnkar 21-7, 21-8 and Soham Khandeparkar bt Arjun Fallary 21-10, 21-12.
