MAPUSA: Penha de Franca Sports Club scored a massive 7-0 win over Immaculate Conception SC Paroda, in the GFA First Division League match, played at Duler Stadium, here on Monday.
At halftime the winners led by three goals.
Josley Dias put Penha de Franca ahead in the early minutes of the match when on getting hold of a pass from Ashok Megher hammered the ball home, 1-0.
After some midfield play Penha de Franca netted in two quick goals (16th and 19th minute) through a brace by Ashok Megher.
Changing ends, Penha de Franca were once again all over their rival citadel and once again got into the scoring act when in the 59th minute Anil Gaonkar’s effort struck the Paroda post and moved towards Sagar Bathkhande who chested the ball into the nets.
Anil Gaonkar netted in a brace for Penha de Franca (60th and 83rd minute) while Treyson D’Costa got his name to the scorers sheet in the 60th minute to finish off the match at 7-0.
Despite this being a major league of Goa, there was no ball boy or stretcher personal for the encounter. Having no option, it was the grounds men who were seen playing the role of the ball boy.
However there was no one to help the injured players get off the field in the absence of stretcher staff causing much delay in the proceedings.
In one such instance Paroda player Ibon D’Costa had to be attended to on the field itself, resulting in play being stopped for a good three minutes.
At Sirsaim grounds, Sesa Football Academy split points with Vagator Parish Youth Sports club after a 1-1 draw.
Sesa’s Veegan Ferrao scored in the 44th minute, while Slyvester Dias equalised in the 77th minute for Vagator PY.
