NAVELIM: Perpetual Succour Convent High School, Navelim beat Rosary High School, Navelim 2-1 to lift the Fr Faustino Memorial trophy of the 7-A-side U-10 football tournament organised by Perpetual Succour Convent High School, Navelim, on Saturday.
Perpetual Succor’s talented striker Sakib Sheikh netted the first goal of the match after dribbling past Sanjay Yadhav, Siddesh Biswas and Shawn Rebello with a placement shot in the 6th minute but the joy was short lived within three minutes Siddesh Biswas long ranger shot equalised for Rosary.
With a minute left for the first half, upcoming young striker Sakib Sheikh netted the second goal for Perpetual Succour with turned around and shot style.
In the second half, Valen Vaz and Sakib Sheikh missed a sitter each for Perpetual Succor in the 19th and 21st minute.
Sadik Sheikh received of Perpetual Succour best player of the final trophy while Siddesh Biswas of Rosary High School received the best defender trophy of the final.
FC Goa’s Mohamad Ali was the chief guest and gave away the prizes to winners and runners-up in the presence of other dignitaries and school officials.
The winners were awarded Rs. 3,000 while the runners-ups collected Rs. 2,000 plus trophies.
