MARGAO: Ponda Veterans edged past Nuvem Veterans 4-3 in the inaugural match of the 1st late Fr. Agostinho Rodrigues All-Goa Veterans football tournament, organized by Nuvem Veterans, at Nuvem ground, on Monday.
The winners led 1-0 at half time.
The teams displayed attractive style of football and provided end-to-end action.
Prashant Naik set the tone for Ponda Veternas with the opener while Santan Furtado doubled the advantage in the second session. Prashant Naik and Ramesh Virnodkar scored important goals for Ponda.
Joao Aranjo, Francis Colaco, Joao Aranjo netted for Nuvem Veterans who put up a tough show.
