PONDA: Raitura Sports Club got the better of Union of Chinchinim Villagers 2-0 to enter the semi-finals of the 27th All-Goa St Anne Festival inter-village football tournament organized by Ponda Footballers in association with SAG and Quadros Motors, at the Animal Husbandry ground Curti-Ponda, on Monday.
Wilfred and Brian scored the important goals for the winner.
The teams played attractive football and Chinchinim nearly took the lead when Scanny’s powerful was fisted away by the Raitura keeper.
At the other end, Wilfred gave a diagonal pass to Bronson and from close range he ballooned over.
In the second half, Selwyn released a through pass to Vicky but his weak shot kissed the upright. Raitura took the lead as Socky gave a diagonal pass to Wilfred and he chipped over the advancing keeper.
At the other end Chinchinim nearly equalized as Selwyn released a well-measured pass to Scanny and he beat the advancing keeper with his shot but to his bad luck the ball went out. With Chinchinim looking for equalizer Raitura increased the lead when Maurico crossed the ball and Brian headed in to make it 2-0.
Sebastian Oliveira was declared the man-of-the-match. Now Raitura await the winners of Tuesday’s match between Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda and St Anthony Sports Club, Assolda.
