MAPUSA: Portais Sporting Club thrashed United Khandepar 6-1 in the final of under-14 boy’s all-Goa XVII Progressive Championship Cup organized by Collem Sports and Cultural Club, Collem, recently. The teams were tied 1-1 at half time.
Portais opened the account with a delightful free-kick through skipper Aaron.
However, United Khandepar came back into the match with the equalizer by Shubham.
Post resumption, Portais simply dominated the proceedings and went on rampage as Vignesh scored the second with a clinical striker after receiving a fine through pass from Aaron, 2-1.
Soon, defender Nolan’s long ranger had no answer for the rival keeper while Sanket joined the party and super sub Raju scored a quick brace for a resounding victory.
The team was coached by Ryan Cardoso and managed by Victor Pereira, the sole sponsor of the team.
Earlier, Portais Sporting Club defeated Cuncolim in the quarters and Quepem in the semi-finals.
GFDC Chairman Dr Rufino Monteiro was the chief guest and gave away the prizes in the presence of Fr Santosh, GFDC council member Agnelo Fonseca and GFDC Football Development Coaching officer Derryl D’Souza.
