MARGAO: Quepem Veterans shocked Tuff Veterans, Bardez 3-2 to cruise into the quarter-finals of all-Goa 11th Flame of Unity Veterans football tournament organized by Flame of Unity Sports Club, Per-Seraulim, at Mabai ground, Per Seraulim, on Wednesday.
Tuff Veterans were well served by former India captain Bruno Coutonho. However it was Quepem Veterans who surged ahead in the 15th minute through Rosario Carvalho. They doubled the lead midway through Arthur Mascarenhas.
After the break, Tuff Veterans upped the ante and launched barrage of attacks and Trevor Antao and Bruno scored in quick succession to level the scores.
The match turned livelier in the final quarter and Roasrio Carvalho turned the hero as he secured his brace and the third goal for his team.
