MARGAO: Kevin Fernandes scored a fine hat-trick to help Raia Sporting Club thump CRC, Chinchinim 6-0 to storm into the quarter-finals of All Goa Cavelossim Panchayat Cup inter-village football tournament organized by Santa Cruz Club of Cavelossim, at Fr Druston and Wellington ground, Cavelossim on Monday.
Joe, Rahul and Jaison were the other goal scorers for Raia.
On Sunday, United Club of Benaulim blanked St Anthony’s Sports Club, Assolda 2-0 to cruise into the quarter-finals.
Benaulim led 1-0 at half time. St Anthony’s SC started the game on an aggressive note and nearly broke the deadlock but Agnes Vaz’s try hit the cross bar and went out.
Undeterred by the early scare, following a well head by Polwin Silva towards the path of striker Cannut Fernandes, who without wasting any time slotted past the rival goalkeeper with snap shot.
Post resumption, Benaulim doubled the lead when Xamaro Rodrigues bulge the net off pass from Vincy Fernandes.
Down by 0-2, St Anthony’s SC intensified their attacks but Joseph’s power-packed volley hit the cross bar much to the dismay of Assolda supporters.
