NAGOA-VERNA: Raia Sporting Club registered a solitary goal win over Ambelim SC to lift the NagoaVillage Panchayat Cup, organised by Pax of Nagoa SC, at Nagoa panchayat ground, on Sunday.
In the 15th minute a good shot taken by Raia’s Wilfred Gomes missed the rival target. Later, a twenty yard shot taken by Elton Colaco found the target which gave Raia Sporting Club the lead in the 18th minute.
In the 28th minute, a shot by Lloyd Colaco of Raia Sporting was timely saved by Ambelim goalkeeper. At lemon time the score was 1-0 in favour of Raia Sporting Club.
In the second half, the match was equally balanced. Both the teams missed good chances of scoring.
Eldon Colaco of Raia Sporting Club was adjudged the man-of-the-match.
Fr Edson Fernándes, parish priest of Nagoa Church was chief guest and gave away the winner’s trophy and Rs. 40,000 while Maria Cabral, the Sarpanch of Nagoa gave away runners up trophy and Rs 30,000.
