PANJIM: Ritviz Parab secured eight points to bag top honours at the all-India late Laxmikant Desai FIDE rating chess tournament, organized by Ponda Taluka Chess Association (PTCA), at Wagle High School, Mangeshi, at Ponda, recently.
Barath M (Goa) had to be content with the second place while Arjun Adappa (Karnataka) settled for the third place.
IM Anurag Mhamal, Soni Krishan (Delhi), Datta Kambli, Aditee Prabhugaonkar, Yuti Patel (Maharashtra), Ajay Kumar Rai (Delhi), Raahul V S (Tamil Nadu), Ian Savio Rodrigues, Gopal Shah (Gujarat), Sudhakar Patgar, Rajesh Kumar (Delhi), Gaurav Madkaikar, Anirudh Parsekar, Siddhesh Milind Marathe, Aston Dias, Rahul Pawar (Maharashtra) and Soham Naik got the fourth to 20th places in the open category respectively.
Arun Desai, Director of Transport was the chief guest and gave away the prizes in the presence of Vinay Tendulkar, president of Goa Chess Association, secretary Kishor Bandekar, president of PTCA Sagar Sakordekar, secretary Amogh Namshiker, sarpanch of VPK Damodar Naik, trustee of Desai Prathishthan Rajendra Desai, vice-chairman of Golden Jubilee Celebration committee of Wagle HS Gaurish Abhisheki and Chief Arbiter Vasanth BH.
