PANJIM: Super sub Rohit Pilgaonkar netted a brace to help Don Bosco Oratory, Panjim overcome Ponda Footballers 4-1 in GFA’s Under-14 League (Ilhas Zone) match at Don Bosco ground, Panjim, Wednesday morning.
Don Bosco led 2-0 at the interval. Don Bosco, having a tie-up with Sporting Clube de Goa, made an outstanding start when Seby Fernandes reacted quickly to a goalkeeping error to punt home and give his side the lead.
Rohit left his mark on the match after just eight minutes on rising off the bench, as he slotted in from close range after Akash Parwar dribbled past three players to set him up.
Changing over, Ponda put up a spirited fight and had a good control over the ball. They eventually managed to breach the Don Bosco back line to score, 10 minutes into the second half after some fancy footwork from Aniket Natekar, who dribbled gallantly and applied the finishing touch.
Sensing a revival, Don Bosco moved up the tempo and started to play more positively. Akash was instrumental in the third goal for Don Bosco when he ran up and played the ball into the path of Sanatan Pereira, who in turn gave a neat first time pass to Rohit to accomplish his brace.
Eleven minutes from the end, Sarfaraz Sayed made sure of the three points for Don Bosco with an intelligent dribble past three defenders, before finding the back of the net.
Don Bosco Oratory has moved up to six points from two games, after they defeated Neura Sports Club 4-1, recently.
