SAG’s athletic programme concludes at Bambolim

PANJIM: In an initiative to promote athletics at the Grassroots, the Sports Authority of Goa in collaboration with the Goa Athletic Association (GAA) successfully organized the Second Young Beginner Athletic program from December 28, 2015 to January 7, 2016 at Campal ground.

PANJIM: In an initiative to promote athletics at the Grassroots, the Sports Authority of Goa in collaboration with the Goa Athletic Association (GAA) successfully organized the Second Young Beginner Athletic program from December 28, 2015 to January 7, 2016 at Campal ground.
A total of 30 promising young athletes having athletic potential were selected to undergo a 10-day training program aimed to hunt new talent in the age group of 6-12 years introducing the  young children to the basics of athletics i.e. running, jumping and throwing skills.
Fun filled training sessions including activities like sprint shuttle relays, jumps, speed ladder races, cross hopping, rope skipping, knee throws, target throws, progressive endurance races were conducted. Various other sessions on sports nutrition, yoga and swimming were also conducted.
The programme was carried out by coaches Devi Gaonkar, Digambar Nagvekar and coordinated by Steffi Cardozo (APO, Athletics) under the guidance of Bruno Coutinho (Joint Director Coaching, SAG) and Paresh Kamat (Secretary of GAA).
