Sai Avtar SC march into quarters on penalties

BAINA: Sai Avtar SC, Anjuna thrashed Panchwadi United SC 5-4 via the tie-breaker to move into the quarters-finals of the 43rd Bandodkar Memorial Inter-village football tournament organized by Baina Sports Club, at MPT ground Baina-Vasco, on Saturday.

At half time, the teams failed to open an account.
Sai Avtar SC in the10th minute would have scored a self goal with Rohan Kamble taking a shot from outside the box, which was brilliantly saved by goalkeeper Soma Korgaokar. 
Immediately, Tanay Naik in a brilliant attempt in the goal area shot wide.
In the 26th minute, Sai Avtar SC’s Akshay Dhabolkar gave a pass to Nyron Dias, who was loitering in the box, but the latter failed to capitalise on the move. 
Post resumption, Panchwadi United tried their best to score a goal in the 42nd minute when Wayne Rodrigues made an attempt to shoot a left kick but the ball went wide. 
In the 47th minute, Henry Da Costa of Panchwadi United tried scoring from a pass fed by Rohit Gaonkar from the centerline, however it was saved by rival keeper by diving to his right.
In the 52nd minute Rohan Kamble of Sai Avtar shot a left kick but it went wide. 
Later, goalkeeper of Panchwadi United Ashish Betodkar made two brilliant saves.
Both the teams displayed an attacking football but could net in, remaining goalless at the end of regulation time.
In the resultant tie-breaker, Henry Da Costa, Aaron Almeida, D Godinho, Samuel Godinho were on target for Panchwadi United while Sai Avtar scored through the efforts of Rohan Kamble, Dinesh Moraskar, Nitesh Salgaonkar, Soma Korgaonkar and Jesmon Carvalho. 
Kritesh Gaonkar, councillor of Mormugao Municipal Council was the chief guest and awarded the Man-of-the-Match to Ashish Betodkar of Panchwadi United.
