PANJIM: Salcete Football Club edged past Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda in the Goa Football Association’s U-14 League match played at Don Bosco Oratory ground, Fatorda, on Friday.
Both the teams started the match on equal footings, however, Salcete FC managed to find the breakthrough after a defensive lapse from the home side in the 15th minute as Salcete’s Mistle Cardozo calmly shot the ball home.
Don Bosco side tried their level best to find the equaliser but Salcete FC defended resolutely to keep the rivals at bay.
In another match at Ambelim ground, Young Striker Club scored an easy win over Pinto’s Youth Club Baradi, 5-0.
Backdon Braganza opened the scoring for Young Strikers in the 18th minute before Flann Crasto doubled the lead in the 23rd minute to make it 2-0.
The teams went into the breather with Young Strikers leading 2-0.
Post resumption, Young Strikers Club came back stronger and scored more than they had earlier with Lincon Fernandes netting the third goal in the 51st minute while Flann Crasto who had earlier registered his name on the scoresheet scored twice to complete his hat-trick and 5-0 for Young Strikers Club.
At Artificial Turf ground, Fatorda, Parish Youth Nuvem humbled Rossman Cruz Nagoa 6-0.
Placido Colaco and Nikeel Chittcutti scored a brace each while Jeff Dias and Zeferino Colaco scored a goal each to take the tally to 6-0 in favour of PY Nuvem.
Ave Maria Athletic and Welfare Club suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Raia Football Club, 3-0 at Curtorim ground.
Reyes Cruz scored all the three goals for the winners.
Elsewhere at Parra ground, El Shaddai Sports Club scored a narrow victory over Penha de France Sports Club, 1-0.
Hrithik Kamble (24′) scored the solitary goal of the match for the winners.
At Poriat ground, Calangute, Goa United Sports Academy rallied to beat Arpora Sporting 3-1.
Arpora Sporting scored the first goal early in the match through Cristiano Gomes.
Taken aback by a goal defecit, Goa UNited regrouped and netted the equaliser in the 33rd minute through Sujal Aikar.
Post resumption, Alpesh Wagari (53′) and Desmond Miranda (56′) scored a goal each for Goa United SA to take home full points.
