AMEBLIM: Salgaocar FC thumped Churchill Brothers SC 6-1 to sail into the semis of the Goa Sevens Premier League, organised by Goa Sevens and Ambelim Sports Club in association with Goa Football Association (GFA) at Ambelim Sports Complex, on Wednesday.
Gilbert Oliveira and Umesh Harijan scored a brace each while Agnelo Colaco and Mackroy Peixoto scored one goal each for the winners.
Both the sides played an exciting game with opportunities created at both the ends but neither of the sides managed to net in goals as teams headed into breather locked in a goalless draw.
Post resumption, Green Brigade came all guns blazing to score and their attempts finally paid off as Gilbert Oliveira scored an easy tap in off a hand throw, 1-0.
Salgaocar FC side doubled their lead as Umesh Harijan lobbed the ball across the field to Agnelo Colaco who ran into the box and scored the side second goal.
Umesh made it 3-0 few minutes later after the Churchill SC custodian misjudged the pass as the former added a goal to his name off a long low range shot.
Umesh completed his brace with a neat shot amidst a blank Churchill defence. Gilbert Oliveira added a fifth goal for the Greens while Nicholas Fernandes managed to pull a goal down for the Red Machines.
Substitute Mackroy Peixoto came on the field and made it 6-1 in favour of the Salgaocar FC.
