RAIA: Sao Jose De Areal edged past Navelim Sporting 3-2 via tie-breaker to clinch the 44th St Joseph Festival Cup football tournament organised by Dramapur SC, at Dramapur ground. The score was 0-0, at the end of regulation time.
In a final encounter, both teams played exciting game of football but could not score. In resultant tie-breaker, Sao Jose De Areal proved to be better shooters.
Frazer Viegas, Stalen Oliveira and Aryan Carvalho scored for Sao Jose De Areal while Clinton Niasso and Nevin Pereira were on target for Navelim Sporting. The winners collected cash prize of Rs 60,000 plus trophy while the runners-up had to settle for Rs 40,000 plus trophy.
Goa Football Association President Dr Caitano Fernandes was the chief guest and gave away the prizes in presence of Velim MLA Cruz Silva, Parish Priest Fr Pascoal Afonso, Sarpanch Avita Pereira and other dignitaries.
