RAIA: Sao Jose de Areal SC move into the semifinals by defeating hosts Guirdolim Club, 2-0, in the 17th All-Goa Guirdolim Panchayat Cup organised by Guirdolim Club and played at Chandor Church Sports Complex.
The match started with Areal dictating terms and it was not long before they tasted success in the 13th minute through Alister Monterio who’s shot from the top of the 18 yard box gave no chance to the Guirdolim keeper. Guirdolim did try to hit back but their forwards could not capitalise on the couple of chances that came their way. They went in to the break with Areal leading 1-0.

After the change of ends Guirdolim came out attacking but the Areal defence was rock solid and gave no chance to the Guirdolim strikers. Taking advantage of a counter attack in the 56th minute, Aaron Andrew of Areal sealed the match with a placement shot to make it 2-0 and take his team to the semis.
Alister Monterio of Areal was presented the man-of-the-match by Asst Sports Secretary of Guirdolim Club, Sevaraj D’Costa.
