CHINCHINIM: SC Davorlim blanked Goa Velha 3-0 to move into the quarter-finals of the Our Lady of Merces Cup football tournament, organized by Sirlim Sports Club, at Our Lady of Hope Church ground, Chinchinim, on Tuesday.
Stanley Fernandes broke the deadlock for SC Davorlim in the 7th minute as he collected a loose ball from Romeo and released an arrow bond shot which pierced into the nets of Goa Velha.
Goa Velha through Francis Pires had an opportunity but shot wide in the 10th minute.
Within eight minutes Romeo Colaco doubled the lead for SC Davorlim with a beautiful curler shot of Perryson Rebello’s connect.
After the lemon break it was SC Davorlim with their youthful pace and attacking troubled the rival defence lines but however Davorlim squandered several opportunities.
Perryson Rebello’s left footed grounder shot travelled to far corner which got deposited of the Goa Velha left side of the net of Teo Gomes connect in the 43rd minute, to take the tally to 3-0.
SC Davorlim will meet Ambelim SC on August 5.
