MARGAO: Hosts Sporting Club of Davorlim trounced Varca Sports Club 4-0 to march into the quarter-finals of all-Goa Davorlim Soccer Cup inter-village football tournament, organized by Sporting Club of Davorlim, at panchayat ground, Davorlim, Saturday.
Sporting Club of Davorlim led 1-0 half time. Davorlim dominated the game throughout and kept their opponents on the back foot. They broke the deadlock in the 15th minute when Macklon Colaco slotted past the rival goalkeeper with snap shot.
Spurred by the early success, Davorlim raised the tempo and raided the rival goal at regular intervals but their forwards spurn easy chances with only rival goalkeeper to beat. Varca struggled to contain the rival attacks and were at the receiving end.
Post resumption, Davorlim continued to enjoy the lion’s share of exchanges and pushed the rival on the back foot.
Andrew Colaco doubled the lead soon when he punted the ball to the far corner of the net.
Remedio Colaco put the issue beyond doubt. Anthony Furtado drove the last nail into rival coffin, to complete the rout.
