Sea Pearl Velim clinch London Cup

PANJIM: Sea Pearl Velim clinched the London Cup for third time by defeating United FC Siridao 3-2 in the floodlit final organised by Siridao Sports Club, at river plate Siridao Sports Club ground, recently.

At first half, United FC were leading 2-1.
Sea Pearl took the lead through Sam in the 10th minute with a powerful shot placement at the far corner of the net after receiving a pass from Mario. 
United FC down with a goal tried hard for an equalizer and in the 28th minute managed to score with the help of Jotesh to make it 1-1. 
With the equaliser, United FC started attacking the rival citadel and with home crowd support Nitesh doubled the lead for united FC in the 35th minute.
Crossing over, both the teams dished out an attacking football trying to score goals but the goalkeepers were equal to the task.
As the match progressed, Sea Pearl in search of an equaliser again started mounting pressure. Agnelo brought the teams on equal terms 2-2 off a Mario’s pass. Within a minute, the pressure of wining the final was on both the sides but Sea Pearl’s Mario netted the match-winning goal in the dying minutes.
The winners took home Rs 35,000 while runners-up had to settle for Rs 25,000.
Chief guest Prasad Shirodkar gave away the prizes.
Joao Marques, president of London Rosary Association, in his address gave assurance for hosting the London Cup every year. 
Minino Afonso, chairman of Siridao Sport Club, proposed the vote of thanks.
The following prizes were awarded: Best player of the tournament Milin (Dezire Valpoi), Best discipline team V7 (Palem), First goal of final Sam (Sea Pearl Velim), Man-of-the-Match Mario (Sea Pearl Velim).
