Velsao SCC, Youth Club of Manora play out 1-1 draw

PANJIM: Sesa FA thrashed Holy Cross SC Arambol 4-0 in the Goa Football Association’s Geno First Division League in association with Jhoncy Restaurant, Benaulim, played at Sirsaim ground, on Friday.
Both the teams got off to an equal start as they cancelled out each other’s attempts. The Sesa side had an upper hand over the struggling Arambol side and they finally surged ahead in the 44th minute through Ryan Fernandes who put the academy team ahead after much probing.
On changing sides, the Arambol team tried hard to move forward but in doing so the Sesa boys managed to find gaps in the opposition defence as Rovan Pereira gave the Sesa team a 2-0 lead in the 69th minute.
The final ten minutes of the game was completely dominated by the winners who came all out and netted two more goals through Kunal Salgaocar in the 81st and 88th minutes.
In another game played at Ambelim ground, Velsao Sports and Cultural Club came from behind to hold Youth Club of Manora to a 1-1 draw.
Both the sides played an equal game in the first session as they cancelled out each other’s chances. On changing sides, Clifton Rebello gave the Manora team a lead in the 49th minute with a fine finish into the nets.
But the strong Velsao side were not going to walk away empty handed as Anthony Cardozo came out with a neat equaliser in the 76th minute as both teams were made to spill the points.
The Hero-of-the-Match was presented by Fr Marvin to Agnelo Noronha of Youth of Manora.
