MAPUSA: Sesa FA played their hearts out to hold FC Goa to a goalless draw in the Goa Professional League played at Duler stadium here on Thursday.
After today’s match Sesa FA and FC Goa joins Churchill Brothers SC to stay with four points.
Both the teams having won their starting league match saw Sesa coach Charles Dias bring just one change in his Starting XI by fielding Omkar Shetgaonkar while FC Goa in charge Deggie Cardozo fielded U20 Mevan Dias and Aditya Salgaonkar.
The teams started aggressively and in the very 3rd minute Young Gaurs almost scored.
U20 Jovial Dias set up Mallikjan Kalegar who in turn sent a low cross to Phrangki Buam in front of the goal whose tap was superbly blocked for a corner by Sesa keeper Roanal Gaunkar.
As the match progressed Sesa lads had two close attempts at Young Gaurs goal.
Velrose Dias shot out after Kunal Salgaonkar had done the spadework and minutes later a fine cross by Akash Kudnekar saw Omkar Shetgaonkar’s header travel just over the cross bar.
On crossing ends Sesa coach Charles Dias brought two fresh legs from the bench Clencio Pinto and Mahammad Faheez to further strengthen the attack.
A pinpoint cross by Mahammad Faheez saw Janak Kudmal left footer being collected by keeper Hrithik Tiwari.
Then in the 65th minute a fierce strike by Clencio Pinto sailed just over the horizontal bar.
At the other end Lalremruata HP sent a cut back pass to Phrangki Buam whose strike from close was paired for a corner by Sesa’s keeper Roanal Gaunkar.
Sesa’s Dominic Soares received the man of the match award from GFA President Dr Caitano Fernandes.
At Quitula ground: Augustias Sporting Club registered a hard fought 1-0 win over Sirsaim SC. The all important goal was scored by Elnay Nazareth.
