Sesa Football Academy started their Second Division I-League on triumphant note when they got the better of New Delhi Heroes 1-0 at Gurgaon, Haryana on Saturday.
According to the information available, Sesa showed better application and played to a plan to take the match away from the rivals. They started off cautiously and took time to settle down. But once they found their rhythm, they called the shots against the Delhi outfit. At one point, striker Marcus Mascarenhas wasted a golden opportunity, which could have turned the match in their favour.
The all-important goal came in the 36th minute of the first half when midfielder Pratik Shirodkar stunned the New Delhi Heroes with a snap shot off through pass from Marcus Mascarenhas.
Sesa will now meet Pune Football Club on March 9.
Speaking to Herald over telephone from Gurgaon, Sesa coach Mariano Dias appeared pleased with the way his team played. He praised the boys for their impressive show and having played to a plan.
