CM celebrates 55th birthday

The Malbhat residence of Chief Minister, Digambar Kamat bustled with activity since Sunday morning as Kamat celebrated his 55th birthday in the presence of party leaders, ministerial colleague and workers from his Margao constituency.
Kamat cut the birthday cake in the morning as a stream of party workers and people from all walks of life lined up to wish the Chief Minister on his birthday.
Ministerial colleagues who were spotted at the residence of the Chief Minister early morning was Education Minister Babush Monseratte, Panchayat Minister Babu Azgaonkar, Filipe Neri Rodrigues and Joaquim Alemao. Then came the workers, professionals, religious leaders, sports officials, bureaucrats, Councillors, Zilla Panchayat members and party leaders.
Later in the day, the Chief Minister spent some time at the Old age home and the orphanage at Pajifond and distributed sweets to the inmates.
In an informal chat with newsmen, the Chief Minister said it was indeed a day for him to do introspection of his works and ponder over the mistakes, if any.
Asked on his stand on the 33 per cent reservation for women in Parliament and State Assemblies, Kamat said the matter needs further discussions as many groups in power differ in their opinion over the percentage of reservations to be given to women in the Lok Sabha and Assembly.
He, however, said the Goa government has initiated several schemes and programs aimed at women empowerment.
