PANJIM: Shikha Pandey has been selected for the Late Dilip Sardesai Excellence Award for the year 2017-2018 after she scored highest points for participating and achieving medals at the International Cricket Championship during the year 2017-2018.
The outstanding Sportsperson from Goa who has excelled in the Senior International tournaments recognized by the concerned Sports Federation and Ministry of Youth Affairs, Government of India, has been presented with a State Award instituted by the Government named after legendary Cricketer comprising of a Bronze plaque and a cash award of Rs 2 lakhs as a tribute to his immense contribution in the field of Cricket.
The said award was instituted in the year 2008 and since then eight highest achievers amongst outstanding sportspersons have been presented with the said State Award.
Shikha will be conferred with the award on August 29 at 4.30 p.m. at the hands of the Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar at the Seminar Hall, Directorate of Art & Culture, Patto, Panjim in the presence of Minister for Sports & Youth Affairs, Secretary (Sports), Prof. Nandini Sardesai, Rajdeep Sardesai and other dignitaries.
