RAIA: Sinquerim Sports Club entered the finals of 33rd All-Goa St Anne’s Inter-Village Soccer in memory of Maria Anatansia Fernandes defeating strong contenders Navelim Sporting 2-1 at Animal Husbandry ground, Curti-Ponda, Thursday. Navelim were leading 1-0 at the break.
Presly Gomes dogged past a defender and from inside the box sent a powerful shot which beat the goalkeeper in the 15th minute. In the second half it was a one-way traffic for Sinquerim as they went all out into attack. In the 55 th minute, they equalized through Krish. And, in the 61st minute Sinquerim took the lead through Krish Naroji whose powerful header from a free kick beat the rival goalkeeper. Sinquerim will cross swords with Verna SC on July 30. There will be an exhibition match before the finals between South and North Goa veterans. Manoj Keni gave away the man-of-the-match award to Krish Naroji of Sinquerim.
