PANJIM: Sporting Clube de Goa U-16 continued their opening form into the second match trouncing Goa Velha SC 5-0 at Don Bosco ground, Panjim, on Friday.
Richard Cardoz (8’ and 32’), Alister Anthony (29’), Karan Bagkar (35’), Anthony Fernandes (50’) got on the score sheet for Sporting Clube de Goa.
Sporting Clube’s striker Richard was on target again right at the start when he received a good through ball from Dattaraj Gaonkar to put it past the Goa Velha keeper to give an early lead to the young Oranje.
At the half hour mark, Richard came back haunting the Goa Velha defenders as he made a brilliant run on the left to set up Alister with a fantastic cross, the latter got it right on target to make it 2-0.
Alister returned the favour in less than 3 minutes by sending in a mouth-watering cross to Richard who controlled the ball well before placing it past the keeper. Karan wrapped up the first half in style when he latched on to a good ball from Alister to make it 4-0 in favour of Sporting Clube at the break.
In the second session, Goa Velha players picked up the tempo and put out a good resistance. It was the Goa Velha keeper’s heroics which ensured the score gap didn’t widen much.
However, in the 50th minute Anthony Fernandes managed to poke one in through a thickly populated Goa Velha box making it 5-0 for Sporting Clube.
Rest of the second half saw a good contest between the Sporting Clube’s attack and Goa Velha’s defence.
With this win Sporting have collected 6 points from 2 matches played and sit comfortably on top of the table.
