BENAULIM: St Anthony SC, Colva blanked Maina SC 2-0 to enter the quarter-finals of the Cana-Benaulim Panchayat Cup organised by St Sebastian Union Club, Benaulim, at Sao Joao Baptist ground, on Monday.
In the second minute itself, Maina through Veron Fernandes missed the chance to score a latter’s left footer missed the Colva target by a whisker.
St. Anthony’s Colva had the chance to take the lead in the 16th minute when midifielder Cliff Dias took control of a loose ball and took a right footer which went past the Maina goalkeeper Johnson Bhogot.
After the break, Maina tried to equalise through Vernon but Colva defender Maxon Fernandes defended well.
As the match progressed in the 50th minute, Colva’s substitute striker Manjoy Rodrigues tapped the ball inside the Maina nets off a fine connect off Baptist Fernandes.
St.Anthony SC Colva will now meet Goa Velha SC in the quarter-final on June 8.
