MERCES: St Caitan A eased past Khumbarwado 2-0 in the 4th Pogo Cup Rolling Trophy, organised by Pogo Boys, at Merces Church ground, on Monday.
Dishaunk of St Caitan had the first shot of the match wherein his right footer grounder missed to find the back of the net.
Following his previous miss, Dishaunk had yet another chance to make things right but his shot was well saved by Khumbarwado keeper Rajesh.
St Caitan were desperate to score goals but were unable to find them. On the other hand Khumbarwado kept the attacks from St Caitan at bay.
In the last minute of the first half St Caitan’s Prakash tried a shot after rival keeper fumbled but instead the former sends the ball miles out. Post resumption both the teams looked to break the deadlock playing some attacking football.
St Caitan’s Nehal finally broke the deadlock after a fine cross from Prakask from the right flank.
Looking to double their lead, Dishaunk finally got his name on the scoresheet after heading the ball to make it 2-0 for St Caitan A.

Khumbarwado’s Gangadhu tried desperately to get a goal but was well contained by the St Caitan defence. Their keeper Dhiraj was hardly tested throughout the match.
