PANJIM: St Joseph Vaz College, Cortalim, registered a comfortable win over Goa College of Pharmacy, Panjim, 3-0 in the Goa University inter-collegiate football championship men played at Goa University ground, on Tuesday.
All the three goals came from Amit Naik in the 16th, 20th and 54th minutes of the match thereby completing his hat-trick.
Rosary College, Navelim, showed full domination over Goa College of Agriculture, Old Goa, 10-0.
In the first half itself, Rosary College scored six goals of which three goals were scored by Sheldon Fernandes to complete his hat-trick, Asmon Viegas a brace and one by Aden Pereira.
In the second half, Rosary College continued their dominance and netted another four goals which were scored one each by Ashvek Jadhav, Mevan Dias, Alvito Fernandes and Asmon Viegas. Defending champions St Xavier’s College, Mapusa, registered an easy victory over Goa College of Engineering, Farmagudi, 5-0. Goal scorers for St Xavier’s College were Sankalp Kankonkar and Rio Fernandes, one each, in the first half.
Crossing over, St Xavier’s College scored another three more goals which were netted by Shaviz Khan, Rio Fernandes and Manjunath Chauvan, one each.
At Rosary college ground, the first match of the day saw a one-sided affair wherein MES College, Zuarinagar, demolished Goa College of Architecture, Althino-Panjim, 10-0.
In the first half itself, MES College scored six goals of which four goals were scored by Jagdish Chawa and one each by Sangamesh Hosamani and Akshay Passic.
On resumption of play, Rosary College continued their dominance and netted another four goals in which three goals were scored by Sangamesh Hosamani and one by Sailino Desa.
Shree Damodar College, Margao, downed Goa Multi Faculty College, Dharbandora, 2-0. At the end of the first half, both the teams failed to open an account.
Crossing over, two goals from Nayab Khan in the 49th and 58th minutes sealed the victory for Shree Damodar College.
Fr Agnel College, Pilar, move into the next round by defeating Nursing Institute, Bambolim, 5-0.
In the first half, Fr Agnel College scored four goals which were scored by Shubert Borges, Kenny Rodrigues, Johonn Mesquito and Mohit Santondekar. On resumption of play, a goal from Vishesh Nasnodkar registered win for Fr Agnel College.
