CHINCHINIM: St Rita HS, Maina-Curtorim downed Regina Martyrum HS, Assolna 2-1 to move into the final of 4th St Joseph Vaz memorial U-17 inter-school boys football tournament organised by Mount’s Marys High School, Chinchinim, at Church ground, Chinchinim, on Monday.
Regina Martyrum’s Crosly Luis opened the account in the 15th minute. In the second half, Jovial Dias equalised for St Rita in the 36th minute.
It was Jovial Dias who scored the match-winner in the 43rd minute.
In the other semi-final, Our Lady of Rosary HS, Fatorda defeated St Rock’s HS, Tollecanto-Velim 3-0. Maxwell Furtado opened the score-line for Rosary in the 19th minute.
Twenty seven minutes later, Maxwell Furtado doubled the lead for Rosary. Later in the 37th minute, Rosary netted their 3rd goal through Valjoe Pinto.
The final will be played on January 16 at 4.30 p.m. on the occasion of St Joseph Vaz feast.
