PANJIM: St Theresa High School, St Estevam won the 2nd 7-a-side female football tournament, organised by The Holy Family of Nazareth Educational Society, Sancoale after a narrow 1-0 win over Perpetual Succour Convent High School, Navelim in the final, at Sancoale, recently.
Jenifer Gomes bagged the highest goal scorer award and Tr Clancy D’Silva was named the best goalkeeper of the tournament. Tr Marlette Vianna was appreciated with a cash prize for being the most enthusiastic player.
From the camp of Perpetual Succour Convent High School, Navelim, Tr. Reema Naik was declared the best defender and Tr. Abigail Alvares was declared as the best player of the tournament.Four schools participated in the tournament.
Chief guest Jenifer Ferrao e Gonsalves, the Deputy Director of Sports and Youth Affairs, Government of Goa gave away the prizes to the winners and runners-up in the presence of other dignitaries.
The chief guest congratulated all the teams. Sr Alvita Gurjao S.F.N, the President of the SFN Society congratulated and appreciated the hard work put in by the teams.
