Standrik wins State chess title
PANJIM (HSD) — Standrik Colaco emerged champion with 8.5 points to remain unbeaten in the ninth round of State Chess Championship at Clube Tennis de Gasper Dias, Mira Mar, on Thursday.
Former State champion Anurag Mhamal finished with 7.5 points while Niraj Saripalli took the third spot with 6.5 points. Umang Kaisary finished fourth with 6.5 points.
Other standings: Rishubh Naik(6.5) – 5th, Rohan Ahuja (6.5) – 6th, Pranav Zantye (6.5) – 7th, Akhilesh Rai (6) – 8th, Nandini Saripalli (6) – 9th, PM Kantak (6) – 10th.
Category prizes: U-7: 1st place – Swera Braganza, 2nd – Akanksha Naik; U-9: 1st – Stanford Pereira, 2nd – Vidula Dempo; U-11: 1st – Gauri Hadkonkar, 2nd – Tatwesh Sawant; U-13: 1st – Omkar Damle, 2nd Deepak Gopalan; U-15: 1st – Tejas Chari, 2nd – Adrian Almeida.
SAG’s ED, V M Prabbhudesai was the chief guest and gave away the prizes alongwith founder member M R Naik. Ashesh Keni welcomed. Kishor Bandekar proposed the vote of thanks.
