MAINA: JK caterers got the better of Bardez Veterans 2 -0 to lift the JK Caterers Cup organised by JK caterers, Maina-Curtorim, at St Rita’s church ground, Maina, on Wednesday.
There were no goals scored in the first half despite both tems showcasing an attacking brand of play. Both the goals were scored in the second half by Dominic Cabral in 35th minute and by Roque Carneiro in 38th minute.
Bardez had an easy chance to reduce the margin but Bruno’s shot was saved by the opposition keeper.
The winners were awarded Rs 30,000 while the runners-up received Rs 20,000.
Moreno Rebello, ZP member Curtorim was the chief guest and gave away the prizes to winners and runners-up in the presence of Rui Menezes, Sarpanch of Curtorim, Simon Barretto, Casmiro D’Cunha, Angelis Rebello, club officials and other dignitaries.
