Big wins for Manipur, Himachal; Tamil Nadu squeeze past Haryana

PANJIM: Manipur and Himachal Pradesh scored resounding wins in the respective encounters of the All India Football Federation (AIFF) Junior National Girls Football Championship, organised by Goa Football Association (GFA) played at Holy Trinity ground, Benaulim on Wedensday.
While the NorthEast side thrashed Chhattisgarh 4-0, Himachal Pradesh hit half a dozen past Gujarat.
In the first game, Usham Ganu put up an impressive performance for Manipur wherein she scored two and also provided an assist to her team.
L Devi scored the opening goal in the ninth minute before Usham got on to the scoresheet  in the 14th minute. Gujarat players were all over the place as the Manipuri girls played quick and entertaining football.Y Parkidevi scored the third at the half-hour mark before Usham added the fourth and completed her brace.
In the second match, a fine brace each from Kiran and Nisha helped Himachal Pradesh hit six past Gujarat. The winners led 3-0 at the break.
Meanwhile at Duler Stadium, Mapusa, Western India Football Association (WIFA) scored a narrow 1-0 win over Punjab. Tricia Collaco scored the match-winner in the 89th minute to hand her side full points.
In another match played at the same venue, Tamil Nadu came from behind to score a 2-1 win over Haryana.
Haryana took the lead in the very third minute through Samiksha, however, Tamil Nadu were equally good. 
They continuously pressed hard to find the leveller and finally managed to level terms at the half-hour mark through Mariyammal. 
Crossing over, skipper and side’s top goal scorer Mariyammal scored the match-winner in the 66th minute.
