PANJIM: Goa’s teenage runner, Teddy Cardozo, Karnataka’s Meghana K and Services’ Lingaras Haliyal and Maharashtra’s Uday Mahajan won the half marathon races at the Rotary Rain Run 2018 in their respective categorie,s at the SAG Stadium in Bambolim, on Sunday.
Teddy won the race in the open category (male) with an impressive timing of 1:16:03 to make it two-in-row having won the same race last year. Karnataka runner, Meghana K won the open category in the women’s section with a timing of 1:35:16, while young army jawan, Lingaras Haliyal won the same event in the services category with a time of 1:15:11.
In the half marathon for veterans, Uday Mahajan from Maharashtra won the race in 1:39:40.
This 4th edition of the Rotary Rain Run 2018 was in aid of cancer charity for underprivileged women evinced a lot of interest with as many as 2,000 runners taking part in eight different categories.
State Revenue minister Rohan Khaunte presided over the prize distribution function as chief guest. The function was also attended by Sidharth Kuncolienkar, Chairman, Economic Development Corporation (EDC) of Goa among others.
