PANJIM: TP Boys defeated BDG Boys 3-2 to clinch the Cristo Rodrigues Memorial Trophy organised by Santa Cruz Club of Cavelossim at Fr Drunston and Wellington ground, Cavelossim, recently.
TP Boys took an early lead in the 9th minute with a superb header from Raju Cardozo. In quick succession, Orlando Cardozo took a through pass from Alex to send the ball straight home to make it 2-0.
At lemon break, TP Boys were leading 2-0.
In the second half, BDG Boys got a penalty kick and Valerio Fernandes made no mistake to convert it. Raju again headed the ball into the nylons from a corner kick to beat keeper Shannon Pereira under BDG bar, 3-1.
Deficit of two goals, BDG Boys mounted pressure and reduced the margin by a goal at the fag end of the match through Valerio.
Chief guest Justin Rodrigues, brother of late Cristo Rodrigues gave away the prizes to the winners and runners-up.
Caspia Rodrigues, daughter of late Cristo thanked SCC Cavelossim for organising the tournament.
