MARGAO: Host United Club of Telaulim defeated Varca Sports Club 6-2 to move into the semi-finals of the Telaulim Panchayat Cup Football tournament, at Telaulim ground, Navelim, on Tuesday.
UC Telaulim took the lead in the ninth minute through Alister Gomes off a pass by Aldrich Coelho.
Varca SC could have scored a goal for the equalizer through Daniel Fernandes in the very 10th minute but the latter ballooned over after receiving a pass from Jonas D’Costa.
Thereafter, UC Telaulim went on an attacking and doubled the advantage in the 13th minute through Aldrich Coelho off an assist by Alvito Colaco.
Soon, UC Telaulim made it 3-0 in the 23rd minute through Aldrich Coelho’s ground shot off a pass by Alister Gomes.
Varca SC pulled one goal back in the 27th minute through Daniel Fernandes.
At the change of ends, UC Telaulim added one more goal which came in from a left-footed strike by Avlon Gomes.
Varca SC made it 4-2 through Jonas’ rasping shot in the 46th minute off a supply by Daniel Fernandes.
Thereafter, UC Telaulim upped their ante and with a well orchestrated move Alvito scored in the 53rd minute. Darwin Costa then made it 6-2 to round off the tally.
