NAVELIM: Varca SC got the better of Raia Sporting Club 4-3 to move into the final of the Gold/Silver trophy, at Rosary ground, Navelim, on Tuesday.
It was in the tenth minute when Joyson Cardozo sent in a long ball to Sokey Cardozo which Varca’s Dylan Lima tried to clear but Raia’s Jousten Barbosa snatched the ball and entered Varca box.
Looking at the danger, Varca’s Colomban Noronha intentionally brought down Jousten Barbosa and the match referee Sharad Naik awarded a penalty to Raia which Jousten Barbosa converted to give Raia the lead.
Seven minutes later,, Danny Fernandes after dribbling past the Varca defenders and the Varca keeper shot into the Varca nets to double the lead for Raia.
The less concern attitude of Raia cost them a goal in the 17th minute with Joylon Cardozo pulled a goal back for Varca.
Twenty one minutes later, Colombian Noronha levelled terms for Varca. As the match progressed in the 48th minute Varca’s substitute Symington Rebello made it 3-2. Three minutes later, Joylon Cardozo made it 4-2 for Varca and in the 55th minute, Joyson Gauncar made it 3-4 for Raia.
Varca SC will now meet the winners of PY Nuvem and Rossman Cruz in the final on October 7.
