Verna cruise into semis

PANJIM: Verna Sports Club prevailed over St Anthony Sports Club, Assolda 4-3 via the tie-breaker to march into the semi-final of All-Goa Cortalim Villagers soccer inter-village football tournament organized by Cortalim Villagers Sports and Welfare Association, at church ground, Cortalim, Sunday

PANJIM: Verna Sports Club prevailed over St Anthony Sports Club, Assolda 4-3 via the tie-breaker to march into the semi-final of All-Goa Cortalim Villagers soccer inter-village football tournament organized by Cortalim Villagers Sports and Welfare Association, at church ground, Cortalim, Sunday. There was no score till the end of regulation time.
Both the teams displayed an attacking brand of soccer and kept the crowds on high spirit. They had equal number of chances but mostly their forwards misfired from ideal positions. The second session continued in the same vein.
In the resultant tie-breaker, Succoro Fernandes and Agneas Fernandes shot wide while Joseph Fernandes, Franky Fernandes and Jonny Fernandes made no mistake for St Anthony Sports Club Assolda.
For Verna Sports Club, Savio Fernandes and Santano Rego were sure in their shots while Stanley Pereira’s shot was saved by the goal keeper and Bazileo Rego and Manuel Moniz converted for Verna Sports Club. 
The winners will meet Socio Club Loutolim in the semi-final on November 2.
