QUEPEM: Verna Veterans defeated Varca Veterans 6-5 via the tie-breaker to move into the semi-finals of the Quepem Veterans football tournament, played at Quepem Sports Complex, on Friday.
Both teams started the match on the forefront but Verna took the lead in the 20th minute when Tiago Fernandes shot gave no chance for the rival keeper. The joy was short-lived as within fifteen minutes Yuri equalised with a placement shot for Varca.
In the tiebreaker Verna netted through Micheal, Manuel, Tiago, Santan and Johnson, and for Varca Veterans Charles, Narcisco, Yuri and James were on target.
Verna Veterans will lock horns with the winners of Fatorda and Chinchinim Veterans in the semi-final on February 7.
