MAPUSA: Portais Sporting Club started their campaign with a resounding 6-1 victory over Don Bosco Oratory, Panjim, in GFA’s under-14 league match (Ilhas zone), at Dr Remigio Pinto ground, Taleigao, on Monday.
They led 2-1 at half time.Vignesh Naik was the hero with a delightful hat-trick in the 10th, 56th and 57th minutes. Raju Thapa, Prabir Soren and Aaron D’Costa were the others who did the damage. Yash Naik was the lone scorer for Don Bosco.
In Bardez match, Piedade Youth Association (PYA), Divar opened their account with a solitary goal victory over El Shaddai, Assagao in the opening match at Anjuna Gymkhana ground.
At Half time the score was 0-0. PYA dominated the proceedings while El Shaddai mostly confined to defending their side.
They made few attempts to score but the PYA defence led by Vishal Vargaonkar, Cazi Fernandes and Pritam Singh was too strong to penetrate while Pranav Madkaikar and Russel Vaz controlled the in midfield.
PYA came near to scoring twice but Russel fumbled infront of the goal. In another move, a try by Umang Gaikwad just missed the target.
In the second half, PYA regrouped with renewed ideas and scored the match winner of a set piece taken by Captain Vishal which was well connected by Raj Mardolkar to bag three points the team.
