SANGUEM: Vinayak Salunke emerged champion at the monthly chess tournament organised by Brain Power Goa Chess and Cultural Academy, at Mulitpurpose Hall, Borda-Margao, on Sunday.
The second place was won by Tejas Shet Verenkar followed by Shetty Sagar.
The following were declared victorious in the respective age categories. Group A U-7: Nayak Poorvi, Lyia Marysil Silveira and Keegan Gonsalves, U-9: Varad Raghuvir Dessai, Ronan Valadaris and Nathan Fernandes, U-11: Vardha Raghuvir Dessai, Vedant U. Pai and Saksham Natekar, U-13: Nayak Pavitra, Fernandes Dwinnie and Aditya Gade and U-15: Harsh Telang and Tanishq Kavlekar.
Upcoming Stars in A Category : Shourya Pednekar, Arya Dabholkar, Saket Karkal, Ricco Sundaram, Atithi Dokle, Ethan Mathew Silveira, Sawkar Vighnesh, Nibran Khan, Aarna Pagi, Saksham Naik, Anushi Chodankar and Utkarsh Wadkar.
In B catgeory the following were declared winners in respective age categories. U-5: Aarav Prabha Gaonkar and Muriel Shanessa Fernandes, U-7: Atharv Borkar, Nash D’costa and Vaman Borkar; U-9: Kimaya Borkar, Janaki Naik and Adirit Sajish, U-11: Vedant Naik and Tanvesh Naik; and U-13: Hemangi Pednekar and Jal Naik.
The first three prizes in B category were won by Shreyash Sajan, Arin Angle and Arena Pokle while the following were declared rising stars: Adhirish Dessai, Pratham Naik, Asmi Terse, Sudevi Prabhu, Sanjit Patel, Shreesha Pednekar, Luke Rocha, Isaiah Fernadnes, Akrati Naik, Sankalp Paul, Anvesha Dhulaji and Dilisha Varak.
In the parents category, the prizes were won by Savio Silveira, Raghavendra Naik, Rohan Borkar, Ruba Sundaram, Raghuvir Dessai, Vikrant Dulaji and Guruprasad Shenoy.
Dr. Chandrakant Hiremath was the chief guest and gave away the prizes along with Dr. Raghavendra Naik who was the guest of honour and Chief Arbiter Sanjay Kavlekar.
