PANJIM: Purushottam Walwalkar Higher Secondary School, Mapusa emerged state champions in the U-19 inter-higher secondary cricket championship, organised by Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, at Colvale ground, on Thursday.
In the final, Walwalkar defeated MES Higher Secondary by six runs in a hard-fought match.
Put into bat, Walwalkar were all out for just 99 runs in their stipulated 20 overs.
Yogesh Kauthankar was the top-scorer for Walwalkar with 31 runs while Ketan Nandrekar (12) and Yash Porob (11) were the other contributors.
For MES, Chetan Harmalkar picked four wickets. Sachin Mishra (2), Krishnaunni (2) and Praveen were the other wicket takers.
Chasing 100 runs for victory, MES were all out for 93 runs. Sachin Mishra (30) and Govind T (18) were the top-scorers for MES.
For Walwalkar, Balpreet Singh picked three wickets while Yash Porob picked two and Yogesh Kauthankar one.
