PANJIM: WCM Gunjal Chopdekar won the “Gram Swaraj Abhiyaan” Tiswadi taluka U-15 Open Chess tournament organised by Santa Cruz Village Panchayat, at Santa Cruz panchayat hall, recently.
Pratik Borkar finished in second while Sharath Shanbhag came third.
Other prize winners were Vinayak Thever, Atharv Nitin Narayan, Tanvi Hadkonkar, Madhavan G and Joy Kakodkar in Open category.
Category prizes in U-9, U-11 and U-13: Vedant Angle, Shreyash Hawal, Arya Dublay, Love Kakodkar, Avneesh Sawant, Namesh Churi, Harsh Dagare and Stuti Pai.
Mariano Da Araujo, Sarpanch of Santa Cruz Panchayat was the chief guest and gave away the prizes in the presence of Prasad Naik (Panch member), Arun Arondekar (Deputy Collector) Arvind Mhamal, Balakrishnan V and other members.
