The teams were tied 1-1 at full time. Loutolim went into the lead in the 13th minute through the efforts of Steve Fernandes. Crossing over, Maclon Colaco equalized in the 56th minute to put his team on level terms. In the penalty shoot out, SCC Loutolim had the last laugh.
On Thursday, Wilred Leisure Sports Club shunted out Immaculate Conception Sports Club (ICSC) Paroda 8-7 in the sudden death to storm into the quarter-finals.
Wilred Leisure were trailing 0-1 at half time. Both the teams played an aggressive game and kept the crowd on their toes. However, it was ICSC who took control of the match with their forwards and midfielders working in tandem to put the rival defence under pressure.
ICSC Paroda surged ahead in the 17th minute when striker Polly Oliveira picked up the ball from his own half and unleashed a snap shot to crash into the net.
With the setback, Wilred Leisure made concerted efforts to come back into the game but failed to get past the rival strong defence.
Crossing over, Wilred Leisure regrouped with good spirit with their forwards showing urgency by troubling the rival defence with well orchestrated raids. Jesel Fernandes scored the equalizer in the 55th minute when he punished the rival goalkeeper with clinical finish.
Later, the teams went all out in search of the match winner but failed to get past the either goalkeepers.
In the resultant penalty shoot out, Velson Fernandes, Johnson Bhagat, Tesley Fernandes, Agnelo Martins, Seby Martins and Nelson Fernandes found the mark for Wilred Leisure while Succoro Colaco, Anthony Dias, Manush Oliveira, Denzil Vaz, and Hyginis Fernandes and Melvito Fernandes scored for ICSC. In the sudden death, Joel Fernandes was successful for Wilred Lesiure while Russel Fernandes failed to net in for ICSC, Paroda.
