VARCA: Wilred Leisure SC, Curtorim defeated Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda 7-6 via the tie-breaker in the final to lift the Varca Panchayat Cup, organised by Varca Sports Club, at Varca ground, on Sunday.
DBO took the lead in the 35th minute through Cliff Barreto from a direct free-kick.
Wilfred Leisure Curtorim levelled terms in the 58 minute through Joaquim Carvalho free kick.
In the tie-breaker, Wilred Leisure, Curtorim netted through Mairon Fernandes, Nevile Fernandes, Joaquim Carvalho, Savio Fernandes, Christo Hilario and Stefan Fernandes, while Francis Andrade, Neceil Pinto, Craston Araujo, Joel Camara and Ranvil Castanha converted for Don Bosco.
Fomer Dempo SC coach Soccoro Coutinho was the chief guest for the final and gave away the prizes to the winners and runners-up in the presence of guest of honour parish priest of Varca church Fr Candido Fernandes and other dignitaries.
The winners were awarded Rs 50,000 while the runners-up received Rs 30,000. The losing semi-finalist –Chandor SC and Anjuna Gymkhana were awarded Rs 5,000 each.
