MANORA-RAIA: Youth Club of Manora defeated Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda 3-1 to emerge champions in the Manora soccer inter-village football tournament, organised by Youth Club of Manora, at Manora ground, Raia on Sunday.
YC Manora led 3-0 at the breather. Fully dominating the match in the first session, YC Manora took the lead in the fifth minute through Eldon Colaco. Earlier at the start of the match, Alfred Noronha and Cliff Baretto of DBO and Jouston Barbosa missed scoring opportunities.
Three minutes later, Joyson Gauncar doubled the lead for YC Manora. Eldon Colaco scored his brace at the stroke of breather scoring the third goal.
Don Bosco Oratory played a safer game in the second session. In the 40th minute a powerful shot from the top of the box from Francis Andrade just sailed over the bar. Substitute Joylex Vaz reduced the margin for Don Bosco Oratory in the 58th minute.
Churchill Alemao – President of Goa Football Association and MLA of Benaulim constituency was the chief guest and gave away the prizes in the presence of MLA of Nuvem constituency Wilfred D’sa, Anthony Pango, vice-president GFA South Goa, Anthony Leo Fernandes, John Silva, Prakash Desai and Jaju Fernandes and other officials.
