PANJIM: Narayan Zantye College, Bicholim won the inter-collegiate cricket championship for women organized by Goa University at university ground.
In the final, Zantye College defeated MES College, Zuarinagar by 93 runs.
Zantye College batted first and scored 148/5 in 20 overs. Divya Naik (40), Snehal Sheth (20) and Roopam Sancoalkar (43) laid the foundation for the victory. Madhu Giri (1/38), Manjushree Bhagat(3/8) and Monica Saroj (1/28) were the wicket takers for MES College.
In reply, MES College were bowled all out at 55 runs in 15.4 overs. Manjushree Bhagat (10) and Madhu Giri (9) were the scorers. Varsha Gawas (4/8), Snehal Seth (2/6), Roopam Sancoalkar (1/3) and Pooja Usapkar (1/16) demolished the batting lineup.
College Director of Physical Education and Sports, MES College P.A. Borgave was the chief guest for the award presentation ceremony and presented the medals and trophies for the winners and runners-up.
Pranita Korgaonkar (MES College) bagged best bowler of the championship (six wickets in four matches), Divya Naik (Zantye College) was awarded women of the championship (140 runs in four matches) and Roopam Sancoalkar (Zantye College) was awarded women of the match (43 runs and took one wicket).
